Closing the 24thACTWG meeting

After two working days, the 24thMeeting of the APEC Anti-corruption and Transparency Working Group completed all the Agenda items.

Delivering the closing remarks, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh,  2017 ACTWG Chair informed that the Working Group had adopted the Work Plan 2017. Accordingly, many intensive workshops would be held in Vietnam, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, focusing on topics of common concern. The ACTWG also agreed to continue working intersessionally to finalize the Strategic Multi-year Workplan 2013-2020 and come back to it at SOM 3 in August 2017 in Hochiminh city.   

The Group commended Vietnam for their proposal to compile APEC best practices on promoting social engagement in anti-corruption. Accordingly, Vietnam will work with other economies and related stakeholders to lead this activity in 2017, compiling initial outcomes to report at SOM 3 in August 2017. 

At the 24th ACTWG Meeting, information on anti-corruption efforts by international and regional organizations had also been shared. The ACTWG commended those efforts and expressed the pleasure to cooperate with these international organizations, especially in training and capacity building activities.

ACTWG Chair concluded that the 24th ACTWG Meeting was successful and thanked all member economies for their constructive and efficient discussions, which helped  generalize their efforts in fighting corruption and implementing the APEC Leaders’ commitments. He also thanked international organizations for participating the Meeting and sharing updated information on their efforts and assistance. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh hoped that the ACTWG and related organizations would cooperate more in the coming time to find the new motivation for a shared future./.
