Upon the invitation of the State Inspection Authority (SIA) of Lao PDR, from 9th to 11th July, the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam Delegation (GI Delegation) headed by Mr. Hoang Duc Hung, Deputy Head of Division on the United Nations Convention against Corruption Implementation, Anti-corruption Bureau, attended the 20th Secretariat Meeting of the ASEAN Parties against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) themed "Enhancing the Collaborative Capacity Building and Anti-Corruption Efforts of ASEAN-PAC Instituitions to Advance the Achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals" and the ASEAN-PAC capacity building Workshop on investigation and recovery of stolen assets in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR.
According to the 2024 Workplan for International Cooperation, The Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam sent a Delegation headed by Mr. Nguyen Viet Thach, Deputy Director General of Anti-Corruption and Anti-Negativity to the Conference on "Fostering integrity policies and strengthening anti-corruption frameworks in Asia-Pacific” and the Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum 2024 organized by OECD in Paris, France from March 23-29, 2024.
Implementing Article 6, Clause 3 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Article 2, Clause 1 of the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC), from 29-30 November, 2023, the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV) Delegation attended the 19th ASEAN-PAC Principals’ Meeting. This is an annual event where Heads of ASEAN-PAC member agencies discuss issues of cooperation, share and exchange experiences, good practices in anti-corruption and adopt the important plans and documents of the ASEAN-PAC. The main theme of this year's Principals’ Meeting is "Enhancing the Collaborative Capacity Building and Anti-corruption Efforts of ASEAN-PAC Institutions to Advance the Achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals".
At the invitation of the Cambodian Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) - the current Chair of ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC), from 16-17 August 2023, the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam Delegation attended the 19th ASEAN-PAC Secretariat Meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Attending the meeting were about 25 delegates from 10 ASEAN-PAC member agencies.
On June 15, in Hanoi, Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV) Doan Hong Phong had a courtesy meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic in Vietnam and his associates. Implementing Decision No. 188/QD-TTCP dated May 16, 2023 of the Government Inspectorate, the Government Inspectorate Delegation attended the 14th session of the Implementation Review Group and the 14th session of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption from 12-16 June 2023 in Vienna, Austria.
According to the 2023 Workplan for International Cooperation, The Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam sent a Delegation headed by Mrs. Trinh Nhu Hoa, Deputy Director General of ICD, to the 11th Regional Conference of the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia Pacific (ACI) at the Asian Development Bank’s Headquarters in Manila, Philippines from 09-11 May 2023 at the invitation of The Secretariat.
Upon the invitation from the Anti-corruption Bureau(ACB) of Brunei Darussalam, the current Chair of ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC), on 13th September 2022, a Government Inspectorate (GI) Delegation represented by inspectors from its International Cooperation Department and Anti-corruption Bureau participated in the virtual 18th ASEAN-PAC Secretariat’s Meeting. This annual working-level event aimed to review the Group’s cooperation activities and prepare the working agenda for the upcoming 18th ASEAN-PAC Principals’ Meeting to be held in November 2022 in Cambodia.
Accepting the Invitation of the President of National Anti-corruption Committee of Thailand, 34th ACTWG Chair and 9th ACT-NET Chair, Viet Nam Delegation including representatives from Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice, State Bank of Viet Nam and Supreme People’s Procuracy led by Mrs. Trinh Nhu Hoa, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department attended events: 34th ACTWG Meeting (17th Feb), 9th ACT-NET Meeting (18th Feb) and APEC Workshop on Technology for Transparency: Digital Disruption to Corruption (14-15th Feb).
At the virtual 17th ASEAN-PAC Principals Meeting on 30th November, the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam handed over the ASEAN-PAC Chairmanship to the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Brunei Darussalam.
Following the successful hosting of the virtual 16th Principals Meeting of the ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) on 9 December 2020, the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV) took over the Chairmanship of the Group and hosted the virtual 17th ASEAN-PAC Secretariat Meeting in the morning of 22 September 2021. At the Meeting, member agencies adopted the Minutes of the virtual 16th ASEAN-PAC Secretariat Meeting hosted by the National Anti-Corruption Commission of Thailand in August 2020, discussed the revision of the Group’s Memorandum of Understanding, reviewed the activities conducted by GIV as the Chair and on behalf of ASEAN-PAC, and were updated on the hosting of the 17th ASEAN-PAC Principals Meeting by the Anti-corruption Bureau of Brunei Darussalam.

On May 26, the Prime Minister chaired the meeting with GIV’s leaders over the plan implementation, and urgent issues for the coming time, as well as suggestions by GIV. The meeting was also joined by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Inspector General Doan Hong Phong.
The National Assembly carried out the process of approving the appointment of a number of Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers and other members of the Government. After listening to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly reporting the results of the discussion, the Prime Minister explained and received opinions of the delegates, the National Assembly approved the proposal for the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and other members of the Government by secret ballot.
Implementing the decisions of the State President on personnel work, on April 15, 2021, the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV) solemnly held a conference to hand over the task between the Secretary of 13th Party Central Committee cum Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Member of the Party Central Committee, new Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong. On June 7, at the headquarters of the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV), the Party Committee of the Central Agencies announced the Decision on appointing the Secretary of the Government Inspectorate Party Committee for the term 2020-2025.H.E. Mr. HUYNH Tan Viet, member of the PartyCentral Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Central Agencies attended the ceremony.
On December 9, virtually connected from the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam, the 16th ASEAN Parties Against Corruption Principals Meeting took place under the theme "Better Governance, Less Corruption”. Government Inspector General Le Minh Khai, Deputy Inspector General Nguyen Van Thanh chaired the Meeting and delegates from the ASEAN-PAC members attended the meeting virtually from 10 ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
On June 11, 2021, the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV) held a meeting to review progress for the first 5 months of the year and the main tasks of June 2021. Under the direction of the Government Inspector General on attending meetings within the framework of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), from June 14 to 18, 2021, the Government Inspectorate’s working group participated online at the 12th Session of the Extended Intergovernmental Working Group on Prevention of Corruption (hereinafter referred to as the Prevention Working Group) and the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (hereinafter referred to as the Implementation Review Group).
The special session of the General Assembly on challenges and measures to prevent and combat corruption and strengthen international cooperation was held from 2 to 4 June 2021 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 73/191 and 74/276, as well as decisions 74/568 and 75/562. This is the first ever United Nations General Assembly special session against corruption (UNGASS), with online and in-person participation of representatives from member states, regional economic organizations, civil society organizations, and observers all over the world. Under the direction of the Government Inspector General, the Government Inspectorate’s working group in charge of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) followed this Special Session via webcast.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently presided over the Launching of the National Reporting system, the Center for Information and Direction of the Government and Prime Minister and announced the 1,000th online public service on the National Public service Portal.
On 17 August 2020, Mr. BUI Ngoc Lam, Deputy Inspector General of Viet Nam chaired an online conference on publicizing the Inspection Conclusion on the observance of the lawson land management and use at Da Phuoc international urban zone project, Da Nang city. The Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption (the Committee) held its 18th session on July 25, 2020, chaired by Party General Secretary, President and Head of the Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, to look back on its work of the first 6 months of 2020 and outline tasks and priorities for the last 6 months of the year.
